Int’l conf on agrarian transition begins in city

The Nabakrushna
Choudhury Centre for Development Studies (NCDS) in collaboration with the
Network of Rural and Agrarian Studies (NRAS) launched a three-day international
conference on “Agrarian Transition and Rural-Urban Linkage in India in 21st
Century” here on Friday.
Sabarmatee from the
Sambhav, Bhubaneswar made a presentation on ‘Change in rice transplanting in
three Odisha villages’. She explained what have changed and what have not
changed in farmers activities in three villages under three separate districts
of Ganjam, Khandhamal and Koraput districts. Sailen Routray from Centre for
Human Sciences Bhubaneswar (CHSB) made a presentation on ‘Born of the Soil’
Culture, Agriculture and the Peasants in Odisha. Many scholars, professors and
researchers from organisations, colleges, universities of the country and
abroad will present papers on different topics for understanding the Agrarian
transition during the three-day programme.
