Library

The Centre’s library has one of the finest collections of books and journals in social sciences. Efforts are being made to make the library one of the best reference libraries for social science research in eastern India. The library at present has a collection of around 17000 books and back volumes of research journals. Including regular subscription of 20 important Overseas journals the Centre regularly subscribes around 90 journals and periodicals dealing with social, economic, political issues and the like. The Centre has an e-library in a separate building with all self-contained facilities
The library offers a conducive environment to users. It maintains catalogue database of books, articles (journals & newspapers) and journals holding on a regular basis, accessible through the Institute’s Local Area Network (LAN).

Working Hours: Monday to Saturday 8 AM to 8 PM
(Except second Saturday & other public holidays)

User's Profile

The library serves the vital support needs of research students of different universities and Colleges in Odisha and also of the various NGOs and social activists for its quality collection of books and journals in the State of Odisha. Visiting members are advised to carry an official request from their respective organisations.

Services

The Library has provision for various user services systems in terms of reference, referral, current awareness and photocopying facilities. Interested faculty members/research scholars are provided with reading lists/bibliographical services on their specified subjects. Newspapers clipping services are also being provided in the Library. To encourage the outside users, the Library has started membership facility for them with a nominal fee. A considerable number of outside users pursuing doctoral research have been given membership of the Library for regular consultation. The computerisation of the Library and information services is now under progress and there is a plan to make the Centre’s Library one of the best social science libraries of Odisha by acquiring all latest types of library softwares.
